Pants pattern intimidate me. If I go by my measurements then I would be one size with my waist and two sizes up with my hips, how do I merge the two?! Luckily "Gertie's new book for better sewing" gives a few tips! I decided to start with a pair of pants that were straight forward and simple, New look 6110 was the perfect choice. There were only two pattern pieces, the instructions were very easy to follow and the recommended fabric was Interlock knit, oh forgiving stretch fabric!! Joanns has plenty of options. I chose this beautiful Olive green.

I went by my hip measurements and decided to cut out a size 14 that measures waist 28' and hips 40'. My measurements are waist 26' and hips 41', but I figured I can just take in the waist with notches and it was more important that's they were wide enough for my hips to fit. I very soon realized that they were way too big so I did the next size down.

Still the end results were a bit loose, but for it being my first pair I am very satisfied.
There are some issues with the crotch section being too big (?) It's usually when I sit that there is a bit of a fabric pouch that forms on that area. I will have to play more with different pants until I know what I have to do to have a perfect fit. If anyone has any suggestions I am more than open to them!!!

Either way I would surely use this pattern again, it is beginner friendly and a great wardrobe builder!
This was a good challenge for me and can't wait to keep making more items for my wardrobe. What should I make next?!
